Media Streaming Mesh is a new open-source project which enables real-time media applications to be first class citizens in cloud-native environments.
Kubernetes has been hugely successful as a platform for deploying web applications. Real-time media applications have unique requirements, which thus far have held back their migration to the cloud-native Kubernetes stack.
In this talk I will give an introduction to the Media Streaming Mesh project, which aims to do for real-time media applications what Service Mesh has done for web applications, and which has recently been open-sourced by Cisco.
Giles Heron is a Principal Engineer at Cisco Systems, and is based in London. His curr is on high-performance container-networking solutions.
Giles has over 30 years' experience in software and network architecture. He is the co-inventor of the MPLS pseudowire technology, served as co-chair of the IETF L2VPN Working Group, and is the originator of the Media Streaming Mesh concept.
